The REAL Estate
From "Junk Space" to inspiring playground

Architect Avi Laiser and his wife, performance artist Dana Hirsch Laiser, investigate the concept of “temporary private space” by transforming a forgotten piece of land adjacent to a major highway into a vibrant and innovative playground for the surrounding community.

Location: L+L Maps - The REAL Estate

Cutouts and niches in an undulating concrete blanket invite the visitor to claim temporary ownership of the spaces. Located in Bat-Yam, Israel, “The REAL estate examines the boundaries between public and private domains in the urban landscape. The concept of “temporary private spaces” relates to places in the public domain we possess temporarily (such as taking ownership of a park bench for a few minutes or of the sand at the beach through spreading your towel out).

LL applaud Dana and Avi for this creative and novel approach to use traditionally undesirable urban space and make it into a magnet and, hopefully, community incubator for the surroundings.

We'd also like to wish Avi a HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
