The former BP site was once the home of 31 massive oil storage tanks surrounded by thick concrete bund walls to prevent oil spills from entering the harbour. The new design uses a restrained composition of elegant, yet robust concrete and metal structures which wrap around the sandstone benches and cliffs projecting into the Sydney skyline. Ducks and other birds are returning to bathe in the constructed wetlands which capture water seeping from the old cliff faces. New trees and native plants are establishing on the exposed rock faces.
