Size matters
When is enough enough?
Mother Jones reports some interesting figures about the lifestyle of Americans.
The American Dream just keeps growing. Since 1970 the size of the average new home has ballooned by 50 percent.
Studies have found that even with the big houses, modern comforts, opportunities and latest technologies, we are no happier than our predecessors. In fact, some studies show that Americans are less happy today than 25 years ago. It's part of what is often referred to as "the dark side of the American dream," the insatiable appetite for more wealth and more stuff to the detriment of personal well being.

Whoa... too big a topic for this quick blog... but while we here at Land+Living are all for the enjoyment of your home and the contents within and without, we also believe that there is more to life. Dare we say, it’s not the size that matters, it’s how you use it.

Enough now.
Enough is enough already. What is wrong with us?!!! We're like roaches just consuming as we go with no possible idea or care what damage we're leaving behind.

Their house has balloned by 50%, their body by 100%, what's next?
Happiness depends on how you feel inside. And this begins with how you treat your body and what you do with your life. Quantity does not make up for quality: either in meal, housing, relationships, culture or happiness. You see in a lot of big houses that are poorly designed and have lots of wasted spaces all around North America. Why? Because when there is abondance, people think less about it and there is waste. Americans should put more attention in quality than quantity beginning with their relationship with themselves and the rest of the world. To be happy, you need to focus your energy in what make you really happy.

Subarbian life is bad for you - a study from the Heart & Stroke Foundation
The subarbian life may be the cause of the lack for happiness. I encourage you to read this study published in February 2005 by the Canadian Heart & Stroke Foundation. Simply put, the suburban dream has gone sour. “The evidence is conclusive: our car-dependent habits are killing us.” says Dr. Anthony Graham, Heart and Stroke Foundation’s spokesperson. Offline, you can get a lot of inspiration from the books you read, the radio programmes you listen to and the television you watch. ,
