Modern wood house in Portland, Oregon

Designed by Sid L. Scott, AIA of Portland, Oregon based Scott | Edwards Architecture this house utilizes simple "off the shelf" materials to achieve stunning results.

We really like the way that the construction and framing of the structure is honestly expressed. Glulam beams, plywood, structural steel and hardware are exposed and featured as design elements. Large windows capture views of Mount Hood and the Willamette Valley.

The overall effect is a design that is both modern and regional, and we're all about that! Beautiful.

Nice

Very beautiful. I hope one day I can build my own house from the ground up. I want those floor to ceiling windows, so beautiful.

Breathless/ Relaxation

I love the depth and height. Your eye keeps going. Not dull. The top photo. Looks so organic. Exotic. Different. Very inviting to whom ever. Very relaxing. Again, The eye keeps going. Great focal points. Love it.

WOW-effect

My friend and I want our own hotel. At google-pics I wrote 'modern wood house' and this one came out; it's like you guys can read my mind! This is exactly how I picture our hotel! Briljant!

Great inspiration! Thanks to the Scott Residence, my reasearch on "wood" will be done for my construction II class @ San Antonio College. Those pictures have a great prespective.

Great Lines!

Fantastic design. Can anyone tell me what the dimensions of this design are? I am considering building on a lot that is 35'x38' and am looking for designs that will fit that lot size. I am not familiar with anyone in the Toronto/Hamilton Ontario Canada area, does anyone know someone? What should I be considering before building? Any suggestions, tips etc would be greatly appreciated, before I make any decisions. thanks,
