Right up there with the Dualit toaster, we've always considered the Kitchenaid mixer to be one of the must-have countertop appliances for your kitchen. Then we discovered that Viking makes a countertop mixer. Both come in a multitude of colors. The Kitchenaid maxes out at 6 quarts and 525 watts; the Viking takes you up to 7 quarts and 1000 watts. That's some serious horsepower in the kitchen. Move over Kitchenaid.
I have owned a Viking 7 Quart mixer for 2 years. It cost $500. It died yesterday. It is not as great as it is cracked up to be. It uses belt drive technology. My 6 quart Kitchenaid lasted 3 years and cost $250. Kitchenaid parts are readily available as are local repair centers. I know this because I replaced a plastic worm gear 3 times. (Kitchenaid now makes a mixer with all metal parts) Vikings can only be repaired at two factory authorized repair centers nationwide. That means when something goes wrong you have to ship the mixer. I have bought so many attachments for it that I hate to buy something else. I have a family of 7 and use my mixer everyday for something. I really need something that is going to perform.
je voudrais acheter unmixer viking 7L, pouvez vous me dire s'il est performant, fiable et puissant pour la réalisation des pâtes à brioches par exemple. est il mieux que le kitchen aid

I bought a 7 quart viking mixer because of its size and (which I thought then) because of the name. Well, I am greatly disappointed. After using the wisk attatchment for the 2nd time to make frosting, two of the wires became detatched and they are unrepairable, but you can buy a new attachment for $55.00..........Stick with the Kitchen Aid, I bought a used 5 quart Kitchen Aid Mixer in 1995 and it is my best tool in the kitchen.

Bought the 7-qt, 1000 watt Viking after owning Kitchen Aids all my adult life (I'm 64). Hugely disappointed and it rattles. A small PLASTIC part is the problem--been on the internet for an hour and still can't find repair parts...anyone know anywhere to order parts? I certainly don't want to ship it cross country!
