Bent Plywood Cat Scratcher
Inspired by Aalto and Eames
When I first received word about the Bent Plywood Cat Scratcher, my belief that bent ply had jumped the shark was somewhat reinforced. I mean, you can pretty much find a bent ply something-or-other just about everywhere these days. So, I ran this by a cat person, who also happens to have some modern tastes, and she thought it was a great idea. She quickly reminded me of those shag-carpet "cat condo" scratching towers down at the local PetSmart and upon hearing that, I was sold on the idea of this scratcher.

The scratcher appears to be available only in walnut but the cool thing about this is your carpet options are endless. The scratcher is sized to accommodate FLOR carpet tiles, allowing you to change it's appearance on a whim.

mutt : dog dwelling
Hip digs for your dog
We've been fans of Jesse Doquilo's work for quite some time now (see references below) so it's great to see him putting out new pieces. One of the pieces we like is the mutt dog dwelling.
For the pampered pet, or the owner with an appreciation for architecture, this unique dog dwelling features a skylight, a plush ultra suede cushion, and mod styling to fit your decor.
The mutt is available in poplar (featured at right) and cherry and can be custom sized for small or medium dogs. Horse sized dogs need not apply.

Bark Deco
Truly modern dog beds.
Even though my dog would prefer to sleep in a tent rather than sleep in a bed, I'm sure once he got used to it he'd be right at home in Teak Dino from Bark Deco.

Bark Deco makes modern doggy beds in three styles availble in a multitude of fabrics and wood veneers.

bark deco beds are designed to provide the ultimate in modern style and luxury for the special members of your family. every bark deco bed is handmade from start to finish. the platforms are constructed from birch hardwood with the care and attention to detail given to fine furniture.

exotic wood veneers are applied and finished by hand over the course of several days. veneers offered in the debut collection are wenge, zebrawood and teak. all bark deco beds measure seven inches tall (regardless of size). each model features a ventilated platform and is elevated for style and comfort (no drafty floors). rubber feet are added to help keep the bed in place.
