Dwell on Design 2009

The West Coast's Largest Modern Design Event
Dwell on Design 2009

Back in Los Angeles for the second time, the modern design showcase will be held at the Los Angeles Convention Center from June 26 through 28. If those dates ring a bell, that's because CA Boom has gone head-to-head with Dwell... like any good parent, we're taking the easy way out and telling you we love them both just as much, just in different ways. And we love you too, so our loyal readers save a bit of green with our special L+L discount codes:
Up to 60% savings on Exhibition Plus - Save $15. Code: DWELL9LAND
Up to 33% savings on Dwell Conference Plus - Save $50 (not valid with Early Bird). Code: DWELL972E
What is Dwell on Design? Well, it's a big event with lots going on, but here's the skinny: Dwell on Design will feature an expansive exhibition, design conference, home tours, curated exhibitions, and special events. It looks great. We've outlined a bit more after the jump, but that's just to whet your whistle. Check out the official website for lots of details.

There is just so much going on, we can't cover it all here, but here are just a few other items worth noting:

The Conference offers several tiers of programming including the Dwell on Design Conference, two day Sustainability Forum, two days of Design Innovation Seminars, and three days of MOBIUS LA: the AIA Los Angeles design conference. And check it out, there will even be a session with Dwell Editor Sarah Rich who contributed to L+L way back when; you've come a long way, Sarah!

The exhibition will feature lots of great companies and products, many of which we have featured here on L+L (we know y'all love your Modern Shed). In addition, the main exhibition area will feature Reclaimed Design, a beautifully modern room decked out with pieces made from reclaimed items found by designers in the Los Angeles Times classifieds. This should prove to be a very interesting exhibit.

The Home Tours will feature the Eastside on Saturday and the West Side on Sunday. Featured architects include Tom Marble, Barbara Bestor, SPF:a, and Clive Wilkinson, to name just a few.

And for an example of the kinds of special events Dwell on Design has planned, how about A Night at the Movies featuring screenings of architectural movies at the Geffen Contemporary.

L+L will be there to check it out, and we'll report back with what we saw... though believe me, it will just be a small slice of the action. So buy your tickets, and check it out for yourself!
