Pixelnotes

An integrated noticeboard that documents activity within a space
A functional wallpaper designed by Duncan Wilson in collaboration with Sirkka Hammer Sirkka Hammer... and Duncan Wilson? Now we're not sure... anyway. the once collaborative team of Duncan Wilson and Sirkka Hammer, Pixelnotes is comprised of a grid of post-it-note-like sheets with four layers of graduated grey tones mounted over a bright primary backing. The result is a constantly changing grided matrix as notes are written and removed revealing different layers. "Pixelated formations and shapes develop according to our patterns of use."

From the web:

"UPDATE: I got an email from Sirkka Hammer saying that it was her idea and she won the new walls please competition in 2004, not Duncan Wilson. Ok then. Duncan, you should maybe change the phrasing on your site then? Oy!"

I am also aware that Sirkka is the SOLE creator and SOLE artist of this piece as well. Duncan, you shouldn't be taking credit where credit is not deserved.

Declaring a piece of art your own while you know you were not the one who came up with the idea / concept? Things should be put straight Mr. Wilson!

Hello, I am amazed by the number of people who believe that pixelnotes is the sole creation of Sirkka Hammer. It was not her project, it was a collaboration, as stated on the first line of of my web page on pixelnotes. Sirkka has falsly claimed sole ownership of the project since it has become so popular on the web. When I first published my website (in October 2006) I sent Sirkka a link to check her approval - she was in agreement with the way that I explained our collaboration and only due to recent popularity of the project has she decided to claim ownership. Also, Sirkka entered and won second prize in the 'new walls please competition' only because I wasn't eligible. I have been receiving legal advice over this project and the terms of intellectual property are quite clearly in my favour. When the story is not so one sided it becomes clear that Sirkka has very little understanding of intellectual property and rights (not to mention ethics). I think it is very sad that going 50/50 and declaring the true partnership involved isn't enough for Sirkka and that she never approached me with her issues before deciding to comment on certain blogs
