The design for parkway strip of Place d'Youville is a crisscrossed overlay of pathways leading to and from various locations in the city. "The more public the destination, the harder and nobler the material leading to it." The different materials of the pathways as described are displays of the various construction techniques employed throughout Montréal's history.
