Omvivo Washplanes

Thinking outside of the bowl... its all about plannar sinks
Omvivio makes some very nice products, and we are particularly impressed with the Washplane®: "flat" sink surfaces. Forget what you know, or think you know about sinks... no little circular drain in the bottom, no bowl, no basin and when water hits this flat surface, it too goes flat and sheets away without splashing. Beautiful products and beautiful function. The four models take variations of the planar sink theme in single or double configurations and are made of a nice range of materials: ceramic, glass, Corian® or stone.

How much and where to purchase

HGTV's just highlighted this product on " I want that". The Omnivo web site seems vague on details. Has anyone actually purchased this product?

Washplane sinks - prices
Posted by Misti on 5/6/2005 3:05:00 PM

These washplane sinks are very expensive. I emailed the company, and I was quoted a price of $3,650 (inlcudes freight) for the Linea Washplane - Single Glass. This price does not include the faucet. Keep in mind that I was quoted for one of the smallest sinks, so who knows how much the bigger ones cost.

I wrote to the co. many times and still have not gotten a reply, I was just questioning how much they cost and where they are available. NO ANSWER.

These are very expensive units. I was quoted a price and had very prompt response. Perhaps i will consider taking photos to local stone mill and see if they can make such.

Dear Washplane followers,
Firstly, to answer your questions and comments about prices...Most of you I think live in the USA and we have only just started selling our products there. So until our dealers hold stock of the products, prices are high because of freighting the pieces individually.
Alyce, your emails were forwarded to our agent in Chicago, I will send them again. A Washplane was featured on HGTV and so I think he has been inundated with emails to answer.
Amy, we can't stop people trying to copy these - they look simple but there's a lot more to them than just a flat top. I could safely say you will end up with wasting your money and how will you tackle the water so you don't get wet? Good luck!

One more thing...
Posted by William Pearse on 5/22/2005 7:10:00 PM

The stone Washplane is the dearest, how ever we have smaller ones in Ceramic or a composite material priced from under or around US$1,000
These are called the KL Vessel.

To answer these new questions...

To see the KL Vessels go to http://www.omvivo.com/kl_vessel01.htm

To see get in touch with a distributor in the USA go to http://www.omvivo.com/locations.htm

There isn't a distributor in Florida yet but there should be soon or get in touch with the people in Dallas. They are very good.

We really appreciate the enthusiasm towards our products... Thank you.

BEWARE OUT THERE
Posted by elsa on 8/18/2005 9:45:00 AM

I have designed (5) bathrooms with the washplanes with considerable expense from my architect and cabinet contractor. We have had to start all over with other sinks because they cannot give us an "availability" date and even suggested that they have to work out some "kinks" out first. SO WHY FEATURE A PRODUCT ON "I WANT THAT' if it is not even available to the consumer ??????!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shipping and prices

I just got pricing from Dallas Dist.
Nice and courteous, very helpful.
I have to agree. The price is through the roof for a double ONDA $7548. 35% shipping by boat, 45% shipping by plane.

Update to Beware out there
Posted by elsa on 9/13/2005 4:53:00 PM

I wanted to revise my comments I posted a few weeks ago. Omvivo has two style of sinks and the confusion came when my cabinet contractor was not aware of this. I am thrilled to let all of you know out there that I will be able to use the "WASHPLANE"sink style as had originally been designed for my 5 bathrooms!!!!!!! I am the first to tell you if I made a mistake (even thought it was my cabinet contractor) and I made a mistake... I have looked high and low for unique and creative prodcuts for my new home and the "WASHPLANE" will provide me with both of these requirements!! I am very excited to have them installed in the near future!!!

Great Idea-- Price way too high for this
Posted by Bill on 5/24/2006 1:00:00 PM

I saw the video on the web. It took LOTS to find a US retailer. Was quoted between 3 and 5 thousand. This is a very cool unit, but for that kind of money I could build half of a bathroom in stone, and have a great look everywhere. This is worth 3-5 HUNDRED.

Alternative
Posted by greeps on 9/20/2006 10:24:00 AM

Ask your local concreteworker to fabricate something similar. If you're willing to have a circle drain (maybe tuck it in the corner) then almost any conreteworker could do it. Ours makes similar ones for 80-100 bucks a foot. You can go to concretenetwork.com to search.

Not for everyone...
Posted by Jo Ann on 10/9/2006 7:09:00 AM

Everyone wants the item because it is so unique and stylish - isn't that part of the lure? If you and your neighbour could buy it at Home Depot for $150, would you really want it so badly?

Does it really work
Posted by Gayle Aherne on 11/10/2006 1:42:00 PM

Can someone let me know if the washplane works as good as it looks. I am thinking of installing one but would hate to be disappointed if it splashed water.

Water splashing (from OMVIVO)
Posted by William Pearse on 11/13/2006 3:42:00 PM

Dear Gayle,
To answer your question. We have been making the Washplane® for over ten years and make our own spout/ faucet for them. Of course water does not splash with our "Ulisse" faucet. You do not have to use our faucet but you would have to ask us or the nearest distributor what other types are suitable.

I hope this answers your concerns.

High end design =high end price
Posted by Tabitha on 5/9/2007 11:46:00 AM

This is obviously a high end product. Look at the materials used. So why complain about price? Have you seen the Follo washbasins? Even more beautiful and more expensive i guess.

Washplane information

UK supplier I have not found very helpful, website could do with improving and seem to be no technical information so i would be concerned about the fitting of one of these.

Omvvio / Washplane information
Posted by Suzie Dyson on 4/6/2009 10:19:00 PM

Thank you to all who have shown interest in the Omvivo Washplane. I'm glad to see the Omvivo product gets so much attention and creates conversation.

Omvivo have recently launched a new website, www.omvivo.com that has images and PDF downloads with further product and technical information.

You can also find the closest distributors on the site who can provide accurate costs and ETA's (remember the product is created in Australia).

You can email Omvivo directly, info@omvivo.com for further information, images or technical support.

Thanks again,

The rain in Spain falls mainly on the washplane...

Try and have a shave?
Posted by Stevo on 9/11/2009 1:33:00 AM

We have installed these for a number of clients on request. Couple of points for domestic use.

There is no way to plug these units which make shaveing rather dificult and they do splash when you wash your hands at the wrong height from the spout.

Apart from that they do look fantastic if not a touch impracticle.
