Come and get it

Octopo, which is Unklbrand's exclusive for Android 8, is still up for grabs. This 6" high vinyl also comes with a detachable companion called Mini-8 that is magnetically held in place.
The piece was released early last year, but is still surprisingly available over at A8's site and at a lowered price.
Octopo is limited to a run of 500.

Volume 2

Seattle radio station KEXP has released another fantastic compilation of live in-studio recordings.
We’re proud to introduce Live at KEXP Volume 2, a collection of exclusive tracks recorded live in the KEXP studios!
We did our best to capture the spirit and vibrancy of KEXP, and the magic and intimacy of the in-studio performances. This CD exemplifies the wide and deep mix of musical styles we play - from local artists to international stars; from well-established icons to up- and-coming legends; from major label artists to Skullbot, a trio of high school students from Stanwood, Washington.
As always the station pulls through with another solid list of artists including Sleater-Kinney, The Decemberists, Editors, Death Cab for Cutie and M.I.A..
Full tracklisting after the jump.

This just may be America's most wanted cooler. Ice down those libations and Express Yourself by adding some chill atmosphere to your par-tay...
Designed by Danny Venlet for Belgian outdoor furniture company Extremis, Ice Cube is made from white polyethylene with fluorescent bulbs inside. But priced around $1650 (without lightbulbs, by the way)... it's All About the Benjamins, baby.

Unklbrand comes through again

A busy summer for Portland's Unklbrand has brought a number of new pieces including their latest vinyl entry JunPo.
And as always there's a story to go along with it.....
No one is sure how long the Junpo organization has been around. Like the Samurai or the alluminati, they have existed as a secretive global faction passing down their mission and way of life from generation to generation.
The Junpo came out of the shadows just after the turn of the millennium confirming their presence and vowing to continue to protect the human race from the very thing that threatens it’s existence– greed. The self-proclaimed public servants have always been made up of the working class, laborers or peasants with little stake in the world around them, however, this position has allowed them to quietly acquire a great but hidden power. Throughout time they have hidden behind unremarkable lives while secretly performing remarkable services that the privileged refused to do or acknowledge.
As a result the Junpo utilize highly specialized skills and a remarkable knowledge base about the most important locations and world organizations to maintain global safety.
To date only three of Junpo’s members have come forward as spokesmen of the organization: Axl. Tran, and Raj. Each appear to oversee distinct global regions and posses unique skills of their own such deep sea recovery diving or urban chemical clean up. The groups total numbers are unknown. Some estimates put membership at two to three hundred and but do to the secretive nature of the group it remains a mystery.
JunPo stands at 6" in height and will run you about $35 a pop.

Karimi Couch

Though he may have the odd hater, you have to respect the amount of pieces that K-Rad (that's right, you heard it here first) pumps out these days.
Of note for me has to be his latest sofa design for Italian manufacturer Contempo. The appropriately coined Karimi Couch stays true to the style that has been Karims bread and butter with the usage of his mainstay patterns consisting of his familiar "cross and peanut" motif.
Now I know some of you are moaning and groaning about this well travelled route, but really people what would you rather see him do ? A village pattern ?

Believe the Hype

The internet hype surrounding recently released film Snakes On A Plane was nothing less of insane. New Line Cinema as well as star Samuel L. Jacksons effort to spread the word online had created such a rabid fanbase of supporters that they would defend the flick even before anyone had seen it.
Marketing genious or just the sign of the times ?
Regardless whether or not you buy into the hype I have to say this was a great film to check out. I can't remember the last time the audience cheered after a particular line was spoken, but there it was when Jackson uttered a few words that will no doubt be apart of cinema history for years to come.
Get out there and enjoy some campy horror.
